Three generations of showing up when families need help most.

Smith & Son Bail Bonds isn't a franchise, a call center, or a side business. We're a family agency built on a single promise: be the person who answers the phone when no one else will.

A family business, by design.

Smith & Son Bail Bonds was founded in 2010 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after years of seeing how the bail industry too often failed the people it was supposed to serve. Hidden fees. Rude phone calls. Bondsmen who treated frightened families like a transaction. We started this agency to do it differently.

More than fifteen years later, we're still doing it differently — and we're still family-owned. Every bond is written by someone whose name is on the door.

"When a family calls us at three in the morning, that call is not an inconvenience. It is the entire reason we exist."

What we believe.

Bail is a constitutional right, not a privilege. The presumption of innocence belongs to every person who walks into a magistrate's office, regardless of the charge, regardless of who they are, and regardless of what someone has assumed about them. We take that idea seriously.

Plain English, every time.

The bail bond process is full of legal terminology that most people have never heard before — indemnity, surety, recognizance, forfeiture. We explain every word before you sign anything. If you leave our office confused, we have failed.

Honest quotes from the first call.

North Carolina law regulates bail bond premiums, and we follow those rules to the letter. The number we quote on the phone is the number you pay. No "processing fees." No "expedite fees." No surprises after the bond is posted.

Discretion as a default.

An arrest is one of the most private moments in a family's life. We treat it that way. What happens in our office stays in our office.

Fifteen years in the Triad.

Since we opened our doors, we've posted thousands of bonds at the Forsyth County Detention Center, the Davidson County Detention Center, and surrounding facilities. We've walked clients through everything from a first-time DWI to serious felony matters. And every year, we get a little better at it.

We've watched the Winston-Salem courts change. We've seen new judges seated and new magistrates rotate in. We've kept up with North Carolina's bail bond regulations as they've evolved. That accumulated experience is what you're hiring when you call us — not just a bond posting, but a guide who has been through this hundreds of times before.

Our service commitment to every client:

  • We answer our own phone, 24 hours a day.
  • We quote our premium openly and never deviate from it.
  • We explain every line of every document before you sign.
  • We track your court dates and remind you of them.
  • We treat your family the way we'd want our own treated.

Where we work.

Our primary service area covers the entire Triad — Winston-Salem, Kernersville, Clemmons, Lewisville, Walkertown, and the rest of Forsyth County, along with Lexington, Thomasville, Welcome, Denton, and the rest of Davidson County. We also regularly write bonds in surrounding counties when needed. If you're not sure whether we can help, just call.

What "Son" means.

The "Son" in Smith & Son isn't a marketing detail. It's the reason we still pick up the phone after fifteen years. Family businesses last when each generation takes the work seriously — and when each generation remembers that what we sell isn't really bail bonds. What we sell is the chance for a family to sleep in the same house tonight.

"What we sell isn't really bail bonds. What we sell is the chance for a family to sleep in the same house tonight."

Ready when you are.

If you're reading this because someone you love is in custody, we're sorry you're in this position — but we can help. Pick up the phone. Tell us the name and the county. We'll take it from there.
